MVSM Bank resulted from the merger between Rural Bank of San Mateo and Marikina Valley Rural Bank. Both banks are pioneer banks in the areas of San Mateo, Rizal and Marikina respectively. Marikina Valley Rural Bank was established in 1953 while Rural Bank of San Mateo was established in 1960.
